Paugus Bay, Lake Winnipesaukee

Paugus Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee is a delightful place to launch a kayak. Late spring is a good time to visit as the water is still cold enough to support salmon fishing. Also the boating crowd isnít in full force yet. Still go in either direction and you canít miss. The water is so clear that you can see down a long way down. Small islands dot the bay and small tunnels can lead you to secluded bays on the north side under the RR tracks.

Going east will bring you to the main lake and Weirís Beach. The other end dead ends in a dam but is a quiet spot to visit in the morning. The best part of this trip is the great restaurants and bars that you can paddle up to along the way. Donít forget the fishing rod!
